Envisaged in the aftermath of the First World War, it was in the early 1930s that the defence of the coasts around Toulon, the country's leading military port, was overhauled.

The heart of this new system, which runs from Sanary to Hyères, is located in the commune of La Seyne sur Mer, at Cap Cépet (now the commune of Saint Mandrier).

Opening

Open from 10am to 12pm and from 2pm to 6pm. Closed on Mondays, Tuesday mornings and public holidays. Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 September, on Heritage Days, the museum is open continuously from 9am to 6pm and admission is free for all.
